The international friendly match between France and Germany, in preparation for the EURO 2024 tournament ended 2-0 in favour of the Germans.
After just seven seconds into the game, Bayer Leverkusen star, Florian Wirtz scored Germany’s fastest goal ever as an international player to give Germany the lead in the first half.
Wirtz’s goal beat the previous German record set by Lukas Podolski in 2013 against Ecuador, by a few hundredths of a second.
With Ousmane Dembélé and Adrien Rabiot pushing for an equalizer for the Les Bleus, France lost their lead to the Germans, who were under pressure to win more games after winning just two of their previous ten games.
Early in the second half, the Die Mannschaft side doubled their goal with a Wirtz’s cross to Jamal Musiala, and then to Kai Havertz who put the ball in the back of the net.
Julian Nagelsmann, the coach of Germany, was hoping for a strong start to the year to prepare for the tournament in his country in June, and he was not disappointed.
Reacting after the match, France coach, Didier Deschamps said,
“We weren’t there, that’s obvious. The Germans played a high-level match today. When we see our start to the match, with this goal, we are standing still.

He further stated, “The Germans did things better than us. In terms of commitment and aggression, we were below. The first person to blame is me”.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Germany will play against the Netherlands while France will play Chile.
