Cuppy and Ryan Taylor got engaged two days after they met in November 2022 and parted ways in July 2023, seven months after their engagement.
On International Women’s Day, popular Nigerian Disc Jockey, Florence ‘Cuppy’ Otedola, delivered an inspiring speech to a group of women in which she highlighted ‘The Power of Saying No’. The event was hosted on March 8th, 2024 by The Prince’s Trust where She spoke about her personal experiences and revealed that 2023 was the worst year of her life.
Cuppy explained that there were certain things in her life that she should have said no to, but didn’t, which led to the difficulties she faced in that year. She particularly regretted not saying ‘No’ to her ex-fiance, Ryan Taylor.
She said, “One of the things I have learned is saying no. I am going to be honest with you, I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. I didn’t say no to taking things on.
“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was DJing, I was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University. I burnt myself out. And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
