Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his wife Dr. Ibijoke Sanwoolu, and his team attended the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2023 Award Ceremony hosted by Her Majesty The Queen Consort at Buckingham Palace on Friday.
The Royal Commonwealth Society stated that 2023 is a significant year for the competition, marking 140 years of promoting youth voice, literacy, expression, and creativity throughout the Commonwealth.
Sanwo-Olu expressed pride in Lagos State Government’s contribution to the competition’s success this year, which resulted in a record-breaking 34,924 entries, an increase of 9,000 from the previous year, with participation from 50 Commonwealth countries, the most in the competition’s history.

The top participating countries this year were Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Nigeria, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom.
Sanwo-Olu reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with and supporting organizations dedicated to the continuous development of Lagos State and its citizens.
