Popular American comedian and actor Kevin Hart is recovering from an injury he sustained while racing his friend, former NFL player Stevan Ridley.
The 44-year-old funnyman shared a video on Instagram on Thursday in which he explained that he had torn his lower abdomen and abductors in the accident. He said that he is unable to walk and will be confined to a wheelchair for a while.
Hart said that he was trying to do some “young man stuff” when he challenged Ridley to a 40-yard dash. He admitted that he should have known better than to race at his age.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the age 40 is real,” Hart said in the video. “All my men, women out there 40 years old and above, it’s not a game. Respect that age.”
Hart is expected to make a full recovery. He said that he is already starting physical therapy and is hopeful to be back on his feet soon.
In the meantime, Hart is using his time in the wheelchair to reflect on his life and priorities. He said that he is grateful for his health and his family, and that he is determined to come back stronger than ever.
“This is just a little speed bump in my life,” Hart said. “I’m gonna get back up, and I’m gonna be even stronger than I was before.”
