The 18th of June, 2023 this year is one day marked out for fathers all over the world, appreciating them for their role and function in the family system.
Unlike mother’s day, Father’s Day does not get the necessary attention and is celebrated every year on the third Sunday of the sixth month and a father’s love can never underestimated.
It is left to you to make this day and every other day special special for your father and there are numerous ways to celebrate and show appreciation for your father on Father’s Day. Here are some ideas:
- Plan a special outing: Father are usually known to be the planners and organisers of the household and often have to make tough decisions for the benefit of the family. Treat your father this year to a special outing. Find out his interests and work around a location that will make him happy. You do not want to take your pops to a tennis game when he actually dislikes the sports.
- Cook: If your father is one who is not too fascinated with the outdoors like mine. Let him feel relaxed in the comfort of his home. Prepare his favourite dish as a surprise on Father’s Day. If you are not a great cook please get someone to help you out. Of course after a good meal the only thing that comes thereafter is a beautiful sleep.
- Spend quality time together: For you who work 9-5, seven days a week. This weekend is the best time to take a break and spend that quality time with your big man.
- Write a heartfelt letter: Express your gratitude and love for your father by writing him a heartfelt letter, highlighting the impact he has had on your life.
- Send funds and pay some bills: Offer to help your father with bills in the house. If there is any if there is anything that will make a father smile from ear to ear, it will be you offsetting some pending bills in the house. Father’s Day could be the best day for you to come through for your pops.
- Create a memory library : Create an album with written memories, funny anecdotes, or inspiring quotes that remind your father of the special moments you’ve shared together.
Remember, the most important thing is to make your father feel loved, appreciated, and special on Father’s Day. Tailor your plans and activities to his preferences and interests, and cherish the time you spend together.
You are welcome.
