South African athlete Oscar Pistorius, formerly a Paralympic star, has been denied parole.
Pistorius was jailed in 2016 for killing his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his bathroom on Valentine’s Day in 2013.
He had initially received a six-year sentence but had that increased to 13 years after an appeal by prosecutors.
The Department of Correctional Services stated that Pistorius had not yet completed the minimum detention period required to be considered for parole.
Pistorius, who had both legs amputated as a baby, was known as “Blade Runner” for his carbon-fibre prosthetic legs.
He had reached the 400m semi-finals in the 2012 London Olympics.
