Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party candidate for the Lagos State governorship election on March 18, 2023, has reported that he and his team were assaulted in the Epe region of the state on Saturday.
Olawale Oluwo, the Boot Party candidate for the election who has withdrawn his candidacy to support Rhodes-Vivour, confirmed the assault.
Oluwo stated on his Facebook page on Sunday that he and Hon Noheem Balogun were fired at during the Labour Party’s campaign walk, presumably by some miscreants sponsored to cause chaos and violence.
Rhodes-Vivour, who led the procession, also confirmed the attack on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning. Although the bullets missed their targets, Oluwo expressed his gratitude to his security guard for promptly retaliating against the attackers.
Despite the attack, Rhodes-Vivour claimed that the rally was successful and that the people of Epe were receptive.
