Nigerians seeking tourist visas to the United States will now be able to stay longer as the US mission in Nigeria has announced an extension of the validity of tourist visas from two years to five years.

The extension will take effect from March 1, 2023, and comes as part of an agreement between the Nigerian government and the US on the extension of tourist visa validity for both countries.

The new visa policy will cover tourist visas, as well as visas for diplomats and government officials.

Despite the validity extension, the application fee will remain at USD 160.

This move is one of several initiatives taken by the United States to reduce visa appointment wait times in Nigeria, and the US Mission continues to offer No-Interview Visa Renewals to those who meet the eligibility criteria, with appointments readily available.
