In preparation for the upcoming presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday, security agencies, including the Armed Forces, Police, and the Department of State Services, among others, have pledged to take action against anyone who attempts to undermine the general elections.

During a joint press conference held in Abuja, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, stated that security agencies are ready to use significant force against individuals caught trying to disrupt the general election. He emphasized that security agencies are committed to ensuring peaceful and orderly general elections.

CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, reinforced that movement restrictions would be strictly enforced from midnight on Friday until after the election on Saturday, and non-voters are advised to avoid polling stations.

In addition, Peter Afunanya, the spokesperson for the DSS, confirmed that the agency would continue to safeguard the nation’s democracy, outlining the number of weapons and ammunition that were recovered from bandits and political thugs ahead of the elections.

Gusau reiterated that elections would be held in all regions of the country and urged Nigerians to disregard threats from non-state actors. He also affirmed that the southeast is still part of Nigeria, and elections would take place there.
