Some members of the Labour Party in the north-west zone have endorsed Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with only a few days remaining before the general election.
Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra and the standard-bearer of the LP, is not the preferred candidate of these LP members.
At a press conference held on Sunday, Bashir Ishaq, who is now the leader of the Game Changers for Asiwaju/Shettima, spoke on behalf of several LP candidates in the north-west and announced their decision to defect to the ruling party and use their structures in the zone to work for Tinubu’s victory.
The group, which includes gubernatorial, senatorial, and house of representatives and house of assembly members from the north-west, as well as chairmen and members of campaign council, members of the gubernatorial campaign council in Kano and the north-west and zonal state coordinators, has unanimously endorsed the candidature of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and resolved to leverage their existing political structures to swing votes and ensure his emergence as the president of the federal republic of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election.
