The INEC has received the final batch of Bimodal Voter Accreditation Machines (BVAS) for the 2023 general election, which is set to take place in February and March.

On Tuesday, January 3, INEC Chairman Mahmoud Yakubu was present at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja to receive the machines, along with national commissioners and other senior officials.

INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye, who is also the chairman of the information and voter education committee, stated that the commission had established four airport hubs in Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and Port Harcourt to facilitate the smooth delivery of the BVAS.

Okoye also revealed that over the past four months, several flights had delivered the machines to designated airports for distribution to states around the country.

He added that with the arrival of the final flight in Abuja on Tuesday, INEC now has the required number of BVAS for all polling units in the country, along with additional contingency machines. Okoye thanked the support of all Nigerians in INEC’s efforts to conduct a fair and transparent election facilitated by technology.
