A Nigerian police officer, Daniel Amah, has received an award from the Inspector-General of Police Alkali Baba for rejecting a 200,000 dollar bribe offered to him by some criminals to compromise an investigation.
Mr. Amah is the divisional police officer of the Nassarawa Division in Kano.
The IGP, who was represented by the deputy commissioner of police in charge of administration in Kano, Abubakar Zubairu, said the officer was awarded for maintaining outstanding excellent work ethics, uncommon focus, and dedication to duty, and exhibiting sound professionalism.
SP Amah was said to have led the arrest and prosecution of one Ali Zaki along with some Police Officers, in a case of Armed Robbery involving Three hundred and twenty million five hundred thousand Naira, (N320,500:00million) this year, Mr. Amah arrested and investigated Ali Zaki for armed robbery.
Upon his arrest, Mr. Zaki offered 200,000 dollars as a bribe to Mr. Amah to let him off the hook and compromise the case.
But the police officer rejected the offer and continued with his investigation.
