The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has authorized the police and other security agencies to fish out the k#llers of Happiness Odeh, a student of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Odeh, an ND II student of mass communication, was k#dnapped on her way to Ipara in Ode Remo on Tuesday evening by g#nmen who raped her before k#lling her.
Miss Odeh won the Miss MAPOLY beauty competition on August 3, 2022.
The President of the Students Union Government (SUG) of MAPOLY, Sodiq Ajani, on Saturday, verified the incident.
In a statement signed by the SUG spokesperson of MAPOLY, Joy Okolie, Ajani said the murderers took away the victim’s phone and that her corpse had been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu.
Reacting on Sunday, Governor Abiodun, in a declaration by his spokesman, Kunle Somorin, narrated the incident as wicked and barbaric.
Abiodun said such a brutal act would not be left unpunished, adding that his administration would not tolerate ungodly and criminal activities that would put the state in a bad light.
Abiodun, who promised that his administration would do everything within the law to ensure Odeh’s killers were brought to book, said he had given the police and other security agencies in the state marching orders to fish out the perpetrators of the devilish act.
The statement reads in part: “While commiserating with the family of the late student, Gov Abiodun assures her relatives that those responsible for the murder of the promising lady would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
“The governor reassures his administration’s commitment to providing adequate security of lives and property of the residents of the state.”
