The senate has confirmed the nomination of Haliru Nababa as the new comptroller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
The red chamber confirmed Nababa’s appointment at Wednesday’s plenary session after considering the report of the its committee on interior.
President Muhammadu Buhari had named him as the new head of the Nigerian prison on February 18.
He was subsequently screened by the senate committee on March 17 during which he spoke about the need to renovate some prisons across the country.
He had also called for improved funding for the NCS to be used to renovate structures, procure arms and ammunitions among other needs.
Nababa succeeds Jaafaru AAhmed who was has been in charge at the correctional service since 2016.
