The Federal Government has reduced the fees chargeable for services related to statutory marriage under the Marriage Act. This new reduction would commence from July 1, 2020. The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, disclosed this in a Public Notice signed by Georgina Ehuriah, the Permanent Secretary and Principal Registrar of Marriages in Nigeria.
Thus, the fees charged for the Issuance of Fresh Marriage Licence to a Place of Public Worship has been reduced from N30,000 for two years to N6000 yearly for five years. Also, the fees charged for the Renewal of a Marriage Licence by a Place of Public Worship has been reduced from N30,000 annually to N5000 yearly, payable for 3 years.
Furthermore, fees paid for statutory ordinary marriage is now N15,000 as opposed to N21,000 earlier while fees paid for statutory special licence is now N25,000 as opposed to N35,000. States and Local Governments can access these services via this link: www.ecitibiz.interior.gov.ng
