You can have a 9 – 5 job and run a business of your own successfully, It’s all about time management and dedication. The use of the internet as a marketing tool for businesses has eased a lot of stress, you do not necessarily need to have a physical store to own a profitable business, you can run a business from the comfort of your house or office. if you have a promising business plan but also have a 9 – 5 job, you can make both work and here is how; Let’s use some of the common businesses in Nigeria as an example;
- Making ready to wear outfits(and/or shoes and sandals) – First thing to consider is a trusted tailor (and/or Shoe Cobbler). Secondly, a good logistics company. If you would be the one shopping for the materials, you would have to pick a day (hopefully convenient; Saturday) to do your shopping. With the help of the tailor (shoe cobbler ) production can go on in your absence, when outfits are ready you can take pictures of your ready-made outfits and post on social media, you can also run social media ads to gain wider visibility. When you get orders, you call your logistics company to pick the order up for delivery.
-
Farming and Fishery – this would involve employing staff yourself, you need someone to watch your plants and pond on a regular base in your absence, and also manages the farm activities.
-
Skincare – in this case, you can either pick a production day or find a wholesale skincare dealer, package your products and take pictures for the internet and have a logistics company deliver the orders.
There is always a way to make things work. we hope you do not feel discouraged to start your business because of your current job.
If you have other businesses you joggle with your daily job feel free to share in the comment section, we would love to hear your story.
All these being said, the emphasis is on time management, in other for your business not to affect your Job, or the other way round.
