A Boeing 737 passenger plane with 143 people on board slid off the runway and into a river in Florida, US.
Twenty-one people were taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.
The plane, operated by Miami Air International, had flown from Guantanamo Bay in Cuba to a military base in the city of Jacksonville.
According to those on board, the plane landed heavily in the storm and subsequently skidded into St John’s River.
All the passengers, including seven crew members had to evacuate via the wings of the plane.
Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry confirmed on Twitter that they were no casualties.
“No fatalities reported. We are all in this together,” he said.
Naval Air Station Jacksonville said on Facebook that animals on board were yet to be retrieved hours after the incident.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to those pet owners during this terrible incident,”
One of the passengers on the plane narrated the ordeal she went through:
“We were in the water. We couldn’t tell where we were, whether it was a river or an ocean,” she also added that she thought fuel was leaking into the river.
