British boxer Kash Ali was disqualified during a heavyweight match for tackling and biting his opponent, David Price, on the abdomen.
The boxer had earlier been docked a point for hitting Price at the back of the head.
After biting him in the abdomen, the referee immediately disqualified Ali and announced Price as the winner by default.
Ali could face a lengthly ban and also likely receive a fine for his antics.
In the lead up to the fight, he had boasted about “not messing around” and said beating Price would “will put me straight in the mix. It’s a great opportunity to show my skills, and show that I’m a real contender.”. It looks as if he did mess around.
After the fight, Ali asked for a rematch, but Price wasn’t willing to fight him again.
“I don’t want to share the ring again with an animal like that,” he explained. “He did a couple early on and I thought he had lost his head completely. I hurt him to the body just before the final bite he took.”
