Movies we can’t wait to see in 2019

2018 was a spectacular year in the movie industry, film makers kept us going in and out of the cinema begging for more. With the likes of Black Panther, Avengers, Venom, Crazy rich Asians, Rampage and the likes, there is no way any movie fanatic won’t be excited to see what 2019 has in-store. Here is a list of some movies we can’t wait to see in 2019-

-Glass (January 18)

A culminating work for its writer-director M. Night Shyamalan, Glass mashes up the protagonists from two of his previous hits — 2000’s Unbreakable and 2016’s Split

-Captain Marvel (March 8)

Brie Larson stars as the titular superhero, a mysterious spacefarer who finds herself on Earth during the 1990s, tortured by vague memories of an old life on our beautiful blue marble. As she struggles to overcome her amnesia, she runs afoul of the shape-shifting Skrulls and crosses paths with a young Nick Fury (a CGI-augmented, de-aged Samuel L. Jackson) and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg, returning to the big screen after more than paying his dues on TV’s MCU spinoff Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

-‘Us’ (March 15)
“Get Out” writer/director Jordan Peele promises a “scarier” experience with his new horror film, which follows a family (Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, Shahadi Wright Joseph and Evan Alex) tormented by mysterious, creepy versions of themselves during a beach getaway.

-Under the Silver Lake (April 19)
David Robert Mitchell’s follow-up to It Follows was one of only two American films to compete at Cannes this year; since then, it’s been treated to a release-date merry-go-round almost as complicated as the movie’s plot.

-‘Shazam!’ (April 5)

Admittedly, Warner Bros. has had a spotty record with its DC-comic-book adaptations so far: Wonder Woman was great; Justice League wasn’t; Aquaman gave us Pitbull’s cover of Toto’s “Africa,” which is impossible to assign value to. But based on the trailer, this quirky superhero flick seems to have a lot going for it, mostly thanks to the comedic chops of Zachary Levi, who is playing the titular role.

-Avengers: Endgame (April 26)

Thanos’s magical finger-snap from Avengers: Infinity War, which wiped out half of all life in the universe. Ant-Man and Captain Marvel sat the last picture out but will certainly pop up here, so expect an exciting turn of events.

-‘John Wick: Chapter 3’ (May 17)

Keanu Reeves’ semi-retired assassin just can’t catch a break, with a global community of killers out to get him as Wick travels from New York to Morocco and back, seeking any help he can find to survive.

-Aladdin (May 24)
A few years back, Disney realized that it actually didn’t need to give audiences a whole new world; instead, it could just give them lovingly updated versions of the worlds they loved when they were kids. As part of its mission to update its ’90s classics with live actors and modern CGI.

– ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’ (May 31)

his new Godzilla movie, directed by Trick ‘r Treat and Krampus helmer Mike Dougherty, features not only Godzilla but also Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. It also has Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown and Silicon Valley’s Thomas Middleditch. Get ready for some serious dark and moody city-crushing throwdowns.

  • What men want (Feb 8)

What Men Want is an upcoming American fantasy comedy film directed by Adam Shankman. A remake of the 2000 film What Women Want, the plot follows a woman who, after getting passed over for a promotion at her work, gains the ability to hear men’s inner thoughts.

-Men in Black: International (June 14)

The film is a spin-off of the Men in Black film series, which is loosely based on the Malibu/Marvel comics of the same name by Lowell Cunningham. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, and Liam Neeson, with Rebecca Ferguson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, and Emma Thompson appearing in supporting roles.

– Toy Story 4 (June 21)

Hard to believe, but it’s been almost a decade since the last Toy Story movie, but finally a new one is nearly upon us. In this installment, a new toy called “Forky” joins Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and the rest of the toy troupe as they head off on a road trip.

-The Lion King (July 19)

Jon Favreau, who had a nearly $1 billion hit with his CGI’d version of Jungle Book, is back with a modern remake of the Disney classic The Lion King—one made with more than a little help from virtual reality. It looks so real and has a voice cast that’s beyond stacked: Donald Glover (Simba), Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar), Seth Rogen (Pumbaa), Beyoncé (Nala)(!!!), and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa. We just can’t wait to see King.
