Arsenal midfielder, Alex Iwobi is set to miss the Super Eagles qualifier against Seychelles after missing Arsenal’s game against Cardiff city at the weekend.
The player was expected to play a part in Nigeria’s second match in the Cameroon 2019 qualifying series but he is currently a doubt after the Arsenal medical team said the 23 year old is has influenza.
Iwobi is one of the players coach, Gernot Rohr was banking on in the encounter in Victoria later this week.
Torino’s Ola Aina is also expected to miss the encounter after he pulled out of the game due to injury.
The player, who is on loan to the Italian side from Chelsea picked up a muscular injury in the lead up to his team’s game against SPAL last weekend.
The players, Ola Aina of Torino and Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi are said to be ill and may have been knocked out of the game.
The player will undergo more test to determine the extent of the injury.
Nigeria sits third in Group E after losing to South Africa in their opening game of the series. South Africa and Libya are joint top in the group after winning their respective opening matches.
The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations is scheduled to hold from January 12 to February 3, in Cameroon.
