Defending champ, Roger Federer in a 6-0 7-5 6-4 win, surpassed France’s Adrian Mannarino, to reach the quarterfinals in the ongoing Wimbledon.
The 36 year old won against the 22nd seed on Centre Court, and has now won 32 consecutive sets at SW19.
In the opening game, Federer broke in, allowing his opponent just two points on his way into a 5-0 lead as the audience at the Centre Court witnessed one of the most one-sided encounters in recent years.
Mannarino, who has never reached a Grand Slam quarter-final before, tried to break point in the sixth game only for Federer save with an ace, wrapping up the opening set in 16 minutes.
The champ has been referred to as the ‘Fed Express’ by some – and the 20-time Grand Slam champion lived up to that moniker as he raced into full speed from the first ball, never giving Manarino an inch and showing the superior technique his game is known for.
The world number two will look to extend his run in the competition when he plays South African eighth seed, Kevin Anderson in the last eight on Wednesday.
