The Federation of International Women Lawyers, Kwara State Chapter has praised the board of the LEAH Charity Foundation for setting up the LEAH Cancer Centre and its initiative on cancer.
The association which took its members to the facility for different kinds of test and screening which ranged from breast and cervical screening, colposcopy, electrolyte, creatinine and urea tests.
The Association through its president, Barrister Oluronke Adeyemi said the task of going outside the State to access centers with these vast facilities had been removed by the LEAH Cancer Center, she urged other bodies to seize the opportunity the center presents to avail their members the opportunity to get screened and access other laboratory services that the center provide, adding that the procedure is painless, the staff informed and friendly and above all the charges pocket friendly.
Other members of the association who spoke with press men express their gratitude for the opportunity the facility provided them with. Some alluded to the fact that they spend tens of thousands periodically to avail themselves of their health status; this they said is now a thing of the past as they can readily access breast and cervical screening and other laboratory test at the new LEAH Cancer center.
A member of the association Barrister, Bunmi Balogun stressed that the location of the facility which is generally regarded as a highbrow area did not in any way influence the rates at which the services provided by the center are accessed.
Members of the association before their screening/test had been sensitized by the Administrator of the LEAH Charity Foundation Mrs. Oluwatoyin Opawoye on the menace of cancer especially those of breast and cervix being the ones that are associated with women. The administrator pointed out that breast and cervical cancer are the ones the center has a bias for. She added that the center has the best cryo facility around concluding that ‘with this the LEAH Foundation is stepping down cancer in our society’.
