The federal government on Tuesday, April 18, 2017, reopened the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after six weeks closure.
The Abuja airport was closed March 8, at 12:00am to allow for the reconstruction of its 34-years-old runway.
The minister of states for aviation, Hadi Sirika, while addressing journalists at the Abuja airport expressed satisfaction that the facility was ready before the deadline of Wednesday, April 19.
‘Abuja runway 100% completed and certified by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority. Consequently, the airport is open for operations. Thank u’. Sirika said.
‘Runway friction test, the final activity, concluded. Just landed on the runway, everything is perfect. We beat the deadline. We thank you’. he concluded.
