According to a painful new report published in the Journal of the British Association of Urological Surgeons, 17,616 people went to the emergency room with “zipper-related genital injuries” from 2002 through 2010.
That figure means that more than 2,000 men do their best Ben Stiller impression every year. “The penis was almost always the only genital organ involved,” the University of California-San Francisco research team put it.
“Amongst adults, zips were the most frequent cause of penile injuries.” The study’s authors suggest that men become familiar with “various zip-detachment strategies.” We have one: Stop wearing pants with zippers.
