Actor Femi Branch Criticises Actors Who Refuse to Transform for Roles

Femi Branch, a seasoned Nollywood actor, has called out fellow actors who don’t really live up to their roles as “frauds” and “cheats.”

Femi recently voiced his displeasure with actors that put little to no effort into physically or emotionally changing for their roles in an interview with HipTV.

He claims that these so-called performers are denigrating the art of acting and misleading the public.

โ€œYou have someone that calls himself an actor and he has just one look in every film. Iโ€™m sorry dude, youโ€™re not professional. Youโ€™re a fraud,โ€œ he stated firmly.

The audience has to keep convincing themselves that itโ€™s not youโ€”theyโ€™re doing your job for you. Youโ€™re giving them stress!โ€ he said.

He maintained that performers are doing their audience a disservice by making them mentally “filter out” their real-life selves in order to accept them in a new character; in other words, they are putting the onus of performance on the audience.

Femi Branch highlighted Hollywood stars like Michael Fassbender, Joaquin Phoenix, and 50 Cent as examples of true professionalism, noting their willingness to undergo major physical changes for roles.

โ€œIf you have to go bald, you go bald. If you have to carry warts on your face, you carry warts! Your body doesnโ€™t belong to youโ€”it belongs to the craft.

Thatโ€™s why youโ€™ll never see such actors in serious projects. Producers and directors know how to sift the wheat from the chaff.

Who cares about your good looks? People are paying for the characters they can relate withโ€”not your selfies,โ€ he concluded.

“We know the solution in this industry but we are the same problem.

“I don’t care, I love what I love. There r some actors I can never get tired of watching likewise some actresses, some storylines can never bore me. As much as I agree with u, YouTube is home of reality for some producers. I know a brilliant story teller, she’s a producer and also a director who has wonderful films to her credit and I also know some producers, who would accept any story without even correcting anything and they r making cool cash and packing all the views. When it comes to Nollywood and it’s viewers, my dear producer, focus on ur audience, u know what they like if not na gbese, that’s just the harsh reality.”

@sunsherry_of_lagos1:
“When we have upcoming actors and actresses with great talent from theatre art in different schools yet they choose to keep using known faces all the time. The industry is Fโ€™d mehn. Thatโ€™s why I donโ€™t go for auditions cos that one na the highest scam. Youโ€™d stand in line under hot sun and one actor would come and carry script and go chill at home. Bunch of jokers๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚”
