The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is on the verge of naming German coach Gernot Rohr as the new technical adviser of the Super Eagles, The Cable reports.
The Amaju Pinnick-led board has settled for the 63-year-old German as permanent replacement for Sunday Oliseh who vacated the position in February.
Unlike in the botched appointment of Frenchman Paul Le Guen, Rohr, who has previously managed African sides Burkina Faso, Niger and Gabon, has reportedly accepted the terms and conditions of the job and is ready to live in Nigeria to ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.
Presently working on development programmes at the German Football Association (DFB) he is due in the country soon to finalise the finer points of his appointment with Glass House officials.
The highlight of his coaching career came in the 1996 where he led French side Girondins Bordeaux to the Uefa Cup final with a certain Zinedine Zidane under his charge.
He’s also managed French side Nantes and Tunisian powerhouse Etoile du Sahel.
