A Belgian court has increased the jail sentence of a notorious IS recruiter, Khaled Zerkani.
Khaled Zerkani was sentenced by a Belgian court in July 2015 for twelve years. Authorities say that some of his most infamous recruits include some of the masterminds of the Brussels and Paris terror attacks.
Prosecutors appealed the first sentence and a Belgian court has increased his jail term to 15 years after a fellow recruiter Fatima Aberkane was sentenced to 15 years.
Zerkani who operated out of the Belgian capital of Brussels and was popularly known as ‘Papa Noel’ because of his penchant for giving gifts.
Abdelhamid Abaoud and Chakib Akrouh were reportedly recruited by Zerkani as well as the recently arrested Reda Kriket.
