MARC JACOBS is the new creative director of Diet Coke. The designer has joined forces with the drinks brand for one year, as it celebrates its 30th anniversary.
The collaboration will see Jacobs give the brand a “stylish and light-hearted” makeover, following in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld and Jean Paul Gaultier in designing a limited edition run of bottles and cans. In celebration of the brand’s three decades, the designs will “capture the rise of female empowerment through the Eighties, Nighties and Noughties” – with a signature whimsical Marc Jacobs twist.
“I feel very privileged to be the new creative director of Diet Coke and put my stamp on the 30th anniversary campaign,” said Jacobs. “Diet Coke is an icon – and I love an icon.”
To mark the announcement of the designer’s new appointment, the brand has released a video which sees Jacobs playing his own take on the infamous Diet Coke break adverts of the Nineties.
