Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates entered into Bilateral agreement and put pen to paper on a number of deals at the ongoing World Future Energy Summit.
Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari was in attendance as well as the Crown Prince of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Important agreements on judicial matters, trade and finance were signed. The Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement, the Agreement on Trade Promotion and Protection as well as Judicial Agreements on Extradition, Transfer of Sentenced Persons, Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal Matters, and Mutual Legal Assistance on Criminal and Commercial Matters, which includes the recovery and repatriation of stolen wealth.
What will catch the eye for many Nigerians is the Extradition agreement, which is in line with President Buhari’s resolve that all corrupt persons will be brought to book and that all funds belonging to Nigeria will be recovered.
