Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Honorable Yakubu Dogara has spoken on the big challenges ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari to restore Nigeria’s economy and bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians.
He maintained that the daunting challenges are evident but the Buhari led administration is ready to surmount them and take the country back on track.
He, however, called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the president and other government officials in this trying moment of the nation’s history.
During a Christmas service at Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Gwarangah, Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Dogara said every generation has had its own peculiar share of challenges but expressed hope that Nigeria will soon surmount hers.
The Speaker, however, noted that in recent weeks and days “many people have been asking where is the change? What is the future of this country?”
He reminded the congregation that Nigeria is not the only country facing some challenges in the world, as he noted that “Europe is struggling with refugees, Arab countries are in turmoil while some countries are even failed states.
He further spoke on many problems the present government is facing most especially drop in revenue and income distribution. “before this government took over, workers in many states were not paid salaries for months, our economy badly damaged, there was massive looting”.
Expressing optimism for a better tomorrow, Dogara said: “We have a leadership that has emerged with a will to take the challenges. Of course it will take time. The president was humble enough to apologise to Nigerians for the hardship over fuel scarcity.
“Every generation has come with some peculiar problems and also come with men and women that will help overcome those challenges.
“That is the message of hope that I bring to you. Working together we will be able to solve those problems”.
Mr. Dogara also urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in prayers for the country’s leaders, adding, “We should all pray for the president for divine wisdom and also all leaders because when they do well, our people will do well”.
