These are questions I always ask myself. Some l borrowed from men of wisdom others I gained from true life experiences. These questions are part of our everyday life lessons that we just can’t shy away from.
Here is a list of 12 true life questions we should always ask ourselves. I pass this list to you with the simple hope that it makes us think. Sometimes thinking about our life and sorting out what we have learned is just as important as tackling a new venture.
1. Am l holding onto something that l need to let go off?
I discovered that the energy and time used to worry about my past had limited my ability to do greater things. Caring so much about that past drains the energy you would have used to achieve greater things. It’s time to delete that past and move on. Most of the time what we are really looking for is right in front of us.
2. Other than money, what else have l gained from my current job?
Instead of placing more emphases on the monetary reward l get from my present job l try to develop my skills and gain more experience that would prepare me for greater rewards to come. Rather than work for money all our lives we should make money work for us. This can only be achieved if we prepare ourselves for that greater challenge. I have seen colleagues who are comfortable with their present job that they just don’t have an exit plan. Remember it’s not your business and one day you would have to give room for new breeds.
3. I never really lived until I did something for someone who could never repay back.
When l give freely and not expecting back in return l get blessed in unusual dimensions. It’s Just like the saying “givers never lack”. The truth is that we all live to serve a particular purpose and by helping others we fulfill our own destiny? Do you know that when you make a positive impact in someone else’s life, you also make a positive impact in your own? You cannot do everything, but you can do something. Smile and enjoy the fact that you made a difference.
4. If you had a friend who spoke to you in the way you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow that person to be your friend?
True friends are hard to find but if you find one please hold on to them. The kind of Friendship that is available today are friends who pretend to want the best for you but actually it’s the opposite. Only true friends will tell you the truth you don’t want to hear but it’s the Truth.
5. Why am l Holding on to that relationship that is not working?
Holding on to a relationship that is not working is really dangerous. It’s psychologically effect are devastating. You would not be able to concentrate on anything concrete. Sometimes it gets to a point that we need to be honest with ourselves. If we try so hard to hold on and it’s just not working please let it go and start a new Life.
6. What worries me most about my future?
We leave in a future of uncertainty. The world economy powers are crumbling, high inflation and unemployment everywhere. Instead of allowing this factors to limit me l have actually set out goals that l want to achieve. Don’t limit yourself to present conditions but use to your advantage. The sky would be your limit.
7. Am l surrounded by negative people?
The truth about negative people is that they never see anything good in others. Their minds are programmed negatively towards everything. To break yourself from this selfless act of destruction you have to change the people around you or move on. If not you just discovered that you start acting like them.
8. Am l proud of myself?
You are your own best friend and biggest critic. Regardless of the opinions of others, at the end of the day the only reflection staring back at you in the mirror is your own. Do what you know will please you and not others.
9. Am l happy with my job,finances,present state?
These are questions that keep reminding us of our present state. But remember happiness is within you. The way you view life determines how you feel about yourself and everything that happens around you. To always be grateful will make you happier and fulfilled.
10. Am l honest with myself?
Be honest about what’s right and what needs to changed. Be real about what you want to achieve and who you want to become.
11. If you looked into the heart of your enemy, what do you think you would find that is different from what is in your own heart?
Stop judging people because you might actually be wrong about them or not different from them.
12.Am l careless?
Carelessness is the root of failure and it leads to destruction. So be careful.
Lastly, Follow your heart always. Be true to yourself. Celebrate your small victories. Learn from your mistakes and realize that everything is a lesson in disguise.
