A New York legislator, Sheldon Silver has been found guilty of bribery and financial crimes by a federal jury in Manhattan.
Sheldon, a legislator for more than 20 and one time Speaker of the New York State of Assembly has been convicted of abuse of abuse.
He is said to have collected about $4 million as bribes and kickbacks and was arraigned on a seven count charge which included fraud and extortion.
Although he has resigned as speaker, The conviction means that Sheldon Silver will lose his seat in the New York State Assembly. However, his lawyer has said that Sheldon will appeal to set aside the ruling.
