Having taken President Muhammadu Buhari four months to submit his list of prospective ministers, it was always clear Nigerians would follow the screening process closely.
If you thought the Nigerian resolve to follow the nomination, screening and confirmation of ministers to a logical conclusion would grow weak, you have another think coming!
The screening of ministerial nominees began today and even without a television or a radio, Twitter was abuzz!
Here are some of my top Moments From Today’s screening.
Former Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi’s eloquence has never been in doubt. With an intimidating CV, Fayemi dazzled the senators with his impressive knowledge of all that was thrown at him.
It had people wondering afresh how he lost his reelection to Governor Ayo Fayose. We must bear in mind that eloquence doesn’t equate performance!
Alhaji Lai Mohammed is one old hand and his experience showed. His merciless trolling of PDP senators provided comic relief. All those years of writing acerbic press statements came in handy today.
“The PDP needs more than four years to learn how to be an opposition party” he shot at them. Alhaji Lai could not be ruffled!
Just when our eyes ached from seeing so many old men in one room, enter Amina Mohammed, the delectable woman whose complexion was just as fair as her accent.
And now onto lighter matters, Is it humanly possible for Senator Shehu Sani to string together four sentences without mentioning his incarceration?
My final thought is today’s winning retort.
Senator Akpako didn’t see it coming when he bragged about the hospital he built as Governor and someone shot back, “why did you not go there for treatment?”
I don’t know about you but I’m pretty sure “Take a bow!” will keep ringing in my head for a while!
