The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari submitted a list of his prospective ministers to the Senate on Monday.
The 21 man list had an air of expectation around it as the president took his time. Having taken power in May, he had explained he needed some time before nominating ministers.
The process of screening of the nominees by the Senate began today.
Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi made the initial 21 man list submitted by the President.
Immediately his name was called at the floor of the house, Senator George Sekibo representing the Rivers East Senatorial district submitted a petition in respect of Amaechi’s Nomination.
He was shouted down by some members of the All Progressives Congress.
A judicial panel of inquiry in Rivers state has alleged that Rotimi Amaechi squandered N53 Billion of the Rivers State fund.
