West Africa’s biggest music talent hunt show turned its focus on “International classics”, as the finalists sought to prove that they deserve to have come this far in the competition.
Some of the performances saw commendable use of props to tell their musical story. Ada opened the floor with Mary J Blige’s , I’m going down, followed by Anderson’s soulful delivery of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge over troubled water. Kumi decided to do away with the props in her solemn rendition of Bette Midler’s Wind Beneath My Wings. Jeff, always the show man, shared a serenade of Marvin Gaye’s Sexual Healing with a section of his female fans.
It was however Pearl that had the audience holding on to their breath as she delivered Minnie Riperton’s Lovin You flawlessly. Arewa brought to the show to a close with an emotional, I’d rather go blind by Etta James
All in all, it was a beautiful and intense evening and a sad reminder that only one winner will eventually walk away with the fame and fortune that MTN Project Fame presents.
Therefore, text your favourites voting number to 306 if you are in Nigeria or 1745 if you are in Ghana from an MTN line. Ada (1), Anderson (2), Arewa (3), Deinde (7), Jeff (11), Pearl (16).
