The Nigerian Army disclosed today that 139 people held captive by Boko Haram insurgents have been rescued. The Boko Haram captives were rescued in Borno state and the development was confirmed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman.
He revealed that Boko Haram camps in the area were destroyed and the operation is still ongoing to root out the insurgents in the area.
The Nigerian security chiefs received a three month ultimatum by President Muhammadu Buhari to put an end to terrorism in Northern Nigeria. The Army has recorded significant victories in the past month and has even recalled some of the soldiers who were earlier dismissed from the Army for refusing to fight.
