The International Committee for Red cross has reported that wto Red Cross aid workers have been shot dead in northern Yemen by unknown gunmen.
The humanitarian agency has revealed that both workers killed were Yemeni nationals who were on their way to the city of Saada when the gunmen opened fire on the vehicle they were traveling in. This is despite the fact that their vehicles were clearly marked with the Red Cross logo.
A spokesman for the agency told Al Jazeera, “One of our colleagues passed away on the spot while another sustained critical injuries and was transferred to an MSF [Doctors Without Borders] hospital … where he passed away shortly after,” Rima Kamal, another ICRC spokesperson, said.
Two other aid workers escaped from the attack unharmed.
