Turkey has engaged PKK fighters as well as a section of ISIL in recent weeks after attacks on a border town three weeks ago left scores dead.
Despite another attack on the U.S consulate in Istanbul yesterday, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed that Turkey will continue its offensive against PKK fighters to the very end.
Turkey received NATO’s nod to continue with airstrikes after convening an emergency meeting to convince other NATo member countries that its territorial integrity was at risk. Erdogan said in a televised speech today, “We will continue our fight until weapons are laid down… and not one single terrorist remains within our borders,”
The Marxist Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front claimed responsibility for yesterday’s attacks which recorded no casualties.
