Sonia is a happy woman. She has a loving family and a great career. Then she is diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer at the age of 32.
40 women die of breast cancer every day in Nigeria. 40. 40 mothers, daughters, sisters, wives.
In Nigeria, as it is with many developing countries, cancer is usually fatal because more often than not, it is discovered late. This does not have to be the case.
CancerAware Nigeria is a Lagos based cancer non- profit organisation. We raise awareness on several cancers such as cervical, prostate, breast and colorectal cancers. In addition to this, we also facilitate health screening exercises and events.
As part of our events for October, the global breast cancer month, we are having a campaign to raise awareness on the tragic breast cancer statistics in Nigeria. We are also offering free screening and breast cancer education materials to indigent women.
The campaign with the hashtag #WeWearPink runs from Sunday 25th to Saturday 31st October 2015. You can be a part of this campaign.
1. Take a photo of yourself with a pink item (outfit, nail polish, tie, jewelry, etc.)
2. Share on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
3. Tag #WeWearPink, #CancerAwareNG and #OSG
In addition to this, you can also contribute to the campaign.
