Team Europe cruised past Team World 13-5 at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday to reclaim the Laver Cup, with Alexander Zverev sealing a record-extending sixth title for the European side.
Europe entered the final day needing two wins to reach the 13 points required to claim the trophy, with Sunday’s matches worth three points each.
French Open runner-up Flavio Cobolli and Czech Jakub Mensik gave Europe a strong start, beating Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-3 to extend their lead to 10-5.
World number two Zverev then defeated American Learner Tien 7-6(3), 6-3 to secure the title.
The victory marked the fourth time Zverev had clinched the Laver Cup for Team Europe, following his winning contributions in Chicago in 2018, Geneva in 2019 and Boston in 2021.
Zverev’s victory sparked celebrations as the European players sang on court.
“I’m happy that I did it today,” Zverev said. “But massive credit to the entire Team World. They pushed us all the way.
“I think we had a great team, great team chemistry and a great team effort. We’re definitely happy that we won!”
Zverev also praised Tien after their closely fought contest.
“But still, it was an incredibly tough match. Credit to Learner as well.
“I think Carlos is also very happy that I closed it out. And me too, by the way! I’m very happy that I won.”
The result meant scheduled singles matches involving Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Jodar were unnecessary.
Team Europe had previously won the competition in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2024. Team World won in 2022, 2023 and 2025.
