Zendaya’s new A24 sci-fi film brings actress Zendaya back into science fiction under filmmaker Alex Garland’s direction for audiences worldwide. The project marks Zendaya’s collaboration with A24, following her appearances in the HBO drama Euphoria and the film The Drama.
Garland will write and direct the untitled new movie, continuing his creative partnership with the studio known for productions. Production is expected to begin in 2027, although the studio has not announced a title, storyline, release date, or cast.
Fans must wait for details, as filmmakers have kept the story and Zendaya’s character confidential while development continues behind scenes. The announcement places Zendaya back in science fiction after her prominent role as Chani in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune film franchise.
She will reprise Chani in Dune: Part Three, which should reach cinemas in December, extending her connection with the universe. Zendaya’s new A24 sci-fi film also reunites her with a studio behind several recent projects that attracted strong audience interest.
Her earlier A24 collaborations include Euphoria, the television drama, and The Drama, a film she starred in alongside Robert Pattinson. Meanwhile, Garland has built a reputation for ambitious genre storytelling through films including Ex Machina, Men, Civil War, and Warfare.
His work often combines speculative concepts with unsettling questions about technology, society, conflict, and human behaviour, attracting devoted genre audiences. Although plot details remain unavailable, the pairing of Zendaya and Garland has sparked interest among science fiction and film fans.
The director is also working with A24 on other projects, including a film adaptation of the video game Elden Ring. Zendaya’s packed schedule reflects her growing presence across major franchises, original dramas, and ambitious projects from contemporary filmmakers today.
