The World Health Organisation will hold a meeting today to determine a global response to the outbreak of Zika virus.
Zika virus, transmitted by a species of mosquito has no known cure or vaccine. It had quickly spread among Latin American countries with Colombia reporting 1.5 million infections.
Zika virus has been linked to microcephaly in newborn children; a condition where a child is born with an abnormally small head and brain.
Brazil is also one of the worst affected areas as concerns continue to escalate over the spread of the virus.
The WHO is likely to outline a plan to stop the spread of the virus that is rapidly becoming a wildfire.
