WhatsApp guest calling lets users invite people without WhatsApp accounts to join calls through shared links easily and securely online today. The company announced the feature on October 14, offering a simpler way to connect with friends, relatives, classmates, and colleagues.

Unlike traditional WhatsApp calls, guests can join through a computer browser without downloading the app or creating new WhatsApp accounts. Hosts create call links from WhatsApp’s Calls tab by tapping the plus icon and sharing invitations with participants they choose.

Guests open the link in their browser, enter their names, then wait for the host’s approval before joining the conversation. WhatsApp guest calling supports free calls, end-to-end encryption, and unlimited duration, removing common barriers when people use different communication platforms.

Users can start one-to-one conversations or group calls with up to 32 participants, according to its official announcement released Wednesday. The feature also includes practical tools such as screen sharing, emoji reactions, and a hand-raising option for joining group discussions.

However, only people with WhatsApp accounts can create call links, so guests need an account-holding host to begin the process. WhatsApp gives hosts control over guest access, placing invitees in a waiting room until the host admits them inside.

Hosts can remove guests when necessary, while guests cannot view other participants’ phone numbers, send messages, or invite others directly. These limits provide an extra layer of control when users share call links beyond their usual contacts or professional networks.

The update could help businesses, teachers, families, and community groups connect with people who prefer not to install another app. WhatsApp plans Google Calendar and Outlook integrations later this year, letting users add call links directly to calendar invitations easily.

With WhatsApp guest calling, the company aims to make private conversations easier while keeping calls encrypted, free, and unlimited online.
