What you Missed from #TECNOOwnTheStage Episode 11

Episode 11 of Africaโ€™s first televised karaoke contest was indeed a tense moment on Sunday, January 24, 2016.

Our host for the evening was the delectable Vimbai Mutinhiri hosting without her partner-in-crime, Uti Nwachukwu, who we gathered was cooking up some more surprises behind-the-scene.

Did l mention how gorgeous she looked in that yellow dress… We love!

Vimbai set the ball rolling by having everyone glued to their seats in anticipation of the week’s guest artist.

Recall, Falz the bad guy performed at episode 10 and now, the latest brand ambassador for Gala, Harrysongย was introduced on stage to thrill the audience with a perfect performance of his hit songs ‘Reggae-Blues’ and ‘Ofeshe’.

After his performance, the audience and viewers were given a sneak preview of what the four remaining contestants plan to do if they walked away with the winning prize at February 7’s Grand Finale. With $25,000, a recording deal, and a brand new TECNO Phantom 5 smartphone up for grabs, Nandy was first. For now, the Tanzanian had no idea what she would end up doing with what was โ€œa lot of money.” Sikin on her part said she would, amongst other things, get a microphone and a mixer to help with her blossoming music career, while Shaapera, said she would use the money to get into the studio and produce some of her songs. We can’t wait!

And the Nigerian was the first of the four contestants to take to the stage in Sundayโ€™s episode with a remarkable rendition of Adeleโ€™s โ€˜Rolling in the Deepโ€™.

Nandy was the next contestant to take to the stage with her rendition of Vanessa Mdeeโ€™s โ€˜Nobodyโ€™. And so good was the Tanzanianโ€™s performance that Yemi couldnโ€™t help saying that she liked the fact that Nandy was โ€œfighting again.โ€

It was thereafter Pascalโ€™s turn to take to the stage with a highly emotional rendition of Sam Smithโ€™s โ€˜Stay with Meโ€™ before Sikin took to the stage with her rendition of Zaharaโ€™s โ€˜Loliweโ€™.

But unlike in previous episodes, Sundayโ€™s instalment of the show saw a new twist with the judges giving a second chance at redemption to the two contestants they had adjudged to be the least impressive of the four.

Sikin and Pascal turned out to be the unlucky two and were asked to take to the stage one more time in the hope of proving to the judges that they were good enough to remain in contention for the grand prize.

And it seemed they both did enough to impress the judges as Yemi later announced that no one was going to be evicted from the show and that all four contestants would return for another shot at glory in this Sundayโ€™s episode.
