Nigerian influencer Papaya Ex has given an explanation for why she pinned a photo of Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, Priscilla Ojo’s husband, to the attire she wore to their traditional wedding.
Because of her wedding gown, Papaya angered Nigerians on social media.
The image of Priscilla was affixed on the right side of her waist, while the image of Juma was affixed to her chest, just over her left breast.
In addition to the criticism Papaya was getting online, Priscilla jokingly confronted her on the dance floor during the wedding, asking “Why did you put my husband on your chest?”
Papaya responded by apologizing, “I’m sorry my love, you know I love you.”

In response to the incident, Papaya attacked Nigerians for sexualising her behaviour in an interview with content producer Kuye Adegoke, also known as Egungun.
When Egungun asked her, “a lot of people complained that you put the male picture in your boobs,” Papaya responded, “I feel like Nigerians are too somehow, like they sexualize everything. If I’d put the picture here, they’ll still complain that it’s close to like my coochie you understand.”
She revealed what she did after the picture placement on her dress was pointed out to her as wrong. Papaya said she spoke to the bride and apologised.
She said, “When they told me ‘oh Papaya it’s supposed to be here’. I felt very sorry. I even had to tell the wife like you know I love you, I will not do something you know and she was like ‘okay yeah I understand, it’s okay’”.
Having addressed the dress controversy, Egungun proceeded to ask Papaya “how much is the cost of the outfit in total?”. She answered, “Like N4.5million.”
Egungun also made Papaya confirm that she’s relocated to Dubai. He therefore asked her, “How much do you pay for rent?”

Papaya responded, “Let’s not talk about me. But if you wanna stay where I stay cause I stay in downtown, it’s about N12million every month.”
