On February 7th, 2016 , Africa witnessed the first karaoke winner, SHAAPERA, was crowned on Tecno Own the stage competition. The show kicked off October 2015 and auditions took place in Kenya, Tanzania and Nigeria. It quickly became the talk of Africa as it put African nations in contention.

Finally, a winner was crowned and a Nigerian won the competition. The show was aired LIVE on Africa Magic.
