Nollywood actress Tope Osoba was buried in Ogun State on Thursday after her family postponed her initial funeral date to make further arrangements and resolve outstanding matters.
Osoba’s death was announced on August 5, nearly two years after she underwent breast cancer surgery in November 2024.
Her family had initially fixed August 13, 2026, for her burial. The family held a candlelight procession and artiste tribute night in her honour on August 11.
However, the family later postponed the burial. They cited the need for further arrangements and the resolution of unresolved matters.
On Thursday, Osoba’s remains left Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for Akesan Club in Iperu Remo.
The burial service took place at the club before her remains were interred at Iperu Remo Cemetery.
Family members, friends and colleagues dressed in white as they gathered to pay their final respects to the actress.
Actors Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia attended the funeral.
After Osoba’s death, reports circulated online claiming that she died from emotional distress rather than cancer. Other allegations accused Itunu Onadeko, her fiancé, and his family of subjecting the actress to abuse during her illness.
The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), where Onadeko serves as a shepherd, later announced an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.
