Tom Holland Admits He’s Promoted Films He Didn’t Believe In

Tom Holland has admitted that he did not believe in every film he promoted during his career, saying some were not worth recommending to audiences.

The actor made the candid remark during the July 22 episode of the Dish Podcast. He explained that promoting a film becomes much easier when he genuinely likes the final product.

“I’m absolutely loving it. When you’re doing press for movies you’re really proud of, it’s really easy,” Holland said.

He added that answering questions about a film can be challenging when he does not feel strongly about it.

“Because when they ask you questions about why people should go and watch this movie, you’re not lying to anyone. You really feel like people should see it. I’ve had experiences before when people say, ‘Why should you see this movie?’ And in the back of your mind, you’re like, ‘You shouldn’t, because it’s shit.’”

Holland is currently promoting The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. He said he is proud of both projects and has enjoyed discussing them with fans and the media.

“It’s felt really like a bit of a victory lap, to be honest,” Holland said. “I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m super proud of both of the films.”

The actor also praised his The Odyssey co-star Anne Hathaway. He said working alongside her during the press tour taught him a lot about handling interviews.

“I’ve had the pleasure of sitting down with Anne Hathaway for the last three days and doing press with her,” he said. “For me, that’s been an awesome learning experience. She’s such a pro.”

Holland’s comments offer a rare look at the pressures actors face when promoting films. They also show why he finds this year’s press tour more enjoyable than some of his past experiences.
