Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems will executive produce and curate the soundtrack album for the upcoming fantasy film Children of Blood and Bone. Burna Boy will join the project as executive consultant.

The film adapts Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel. Director Gina Prince-Bythewood is bringing the story’s Yoruba-inspired world to the big screen. Adeyemi co-wrote the screenplay.

The cast features Thuso Mbedu, Tosin Cole, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Regina King, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis.

Afrobeats star Ayra Starr also appears in the movie. Nigerian actors Pamilerin Ayodeji and Shamz Garuba are part of the cast.

The story follows Zélie Adebola as she tries to restore the magic taken from her people. She embarks on the mission with her brother Tzain and royal allies Amari and Inan. Together, they challenge the ruthless King Saran.

Children of Blood and Bone will reach cinemas on January 15, 2027.

The project marks Tems’ first role as executive producer of a movie soundtrack album. Prince-Bythewood revealed that Tems recorded three new songs for the film. She also recruited BNXN and Fireboy DML to contribute to the soundtrack.

Burna Boy will help guide the creative direction of the album. His role will ensure the music reflects the film’s themes and setting.

Tems and Burna Boy previously worked on Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. Tems earned an Oscar nomination for co-writing “Lift Me,” which Rihanna performed. Burna Boy also contributed “Alone,” one of the soundtrack’s standout songs.
