Nigeria’s Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki has seen his appeal against the Code of Conduct Tribunal dismissed by the Supreme Court.
The Code of Conduct Bureau had levelled a three count allegation against the Senate President stemming from false declaration of assets.
Although his trial began at the Code Of Conduct Tribunal, Saraki launched an appeal against the constitution of the Tribunal as well as the CCT’s authority to issue a bench warrant.
The Court of appeal had earlier ruled against Saraki before he proceeded to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme court ruled today that the Tribunal was properly constituted and promptly dismissed Saraki’s appeal.
Today’s ruling will pave the way for Senator Saraki’s trial to continue at the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
